July 2010
This month's presentation will be by our own Angus and the topic will be Odd and Curious Money. A number of things have been used or manufactured as money and Angus will share his insights on the subject. It's sure to be good!

July 2010
This month is our annual club Anniversary Luncheon. We are using the same caterer as last year with Dot Williams coordinating. Last years Luncheon was outstanding with a variety of salads and sides presented buffet style. This years luncheon will be similar and price is $9 and includes the luncheon, drinks, and tip! Please sign up early!

June 2010
Our event for this meeting was our annual picnic. The picnic was held at Gibbel Park and was attended by 16 members of the club plus 1 one happy dog. As usual, R.F. was the organizer and Head grillmaster and provided an excellent event. Thank You, R! At the conclusion of lunch we played 5 rounds of Bingo with the following winners: D.D., J.P., J.L., and R.F.. The last bingo round had 3 winners, B.P., P.B., and P.P., all splitting the prize! Thank You, to A.B. for storing and transporting our Bingo Equipment. We also had a Door prize drawing which was won by the following: J.M. (x2), J.P, J.L., J.M. also won the extra participation prize.

J.P. also won the 50/50. Congratulations to all winners!

May 2010
Last month's meeting was extremely well attended with 26 people present. We had an excellent auction with most items being sold and some spirited bidding on a number of items. The auction was run by the capable K.B. assisted by A.B. and our Treasurer B.K. Over 60 items were auctioned. Thank You's to all the auction help!

J.M. did an outstanding job as our new raffle and drawing coordinator and it is greatly appreciated! Thank You!

I would also like to note the attendance of M. and R. Morrow down from Utah. Nice to see you guy's! Also, we always like it when F.G. shows up and she also brought along a couple of guests! This meeting was one of the best attended in the last year.

I already spoke to the annual picnic in a previous section but would like to add my Thank You! to R.F. for the effort he makes to put on a good event.

As always the club is appreciative of all volunteer efforts and any help is gratefully accepted!

April 2010
Last month's meeting was very well attended with 24 people present. We had an excellent presentation by Bill Calvert and extend our Thanks, for his efforts.

J.P. is currently working on a couple of projects to advertise our club to the public and hope to have some progress to report at the next meeting. J.M. has graciously volunteered to be our raffle and 50/50 coordinator and it is greatly appreciated. Thank You! Again I would like to thank M.C. and D.M. for their donations and club support. R.F. is doing his usual excellent job of arranging the May picnic and his effort is greatly appreciated. We have over 60 items already listed for the Super Auction and I expect a few more to turn up before the April meeting. J.P. attended the Educational Symposium provided by the California State Numismatic Association in March, and it was very informative. I met a number of new faces and the Q/A with Barry Stuppler stole the show! He talked ad-lib answering audience questions for over 2 hours and was amazingly informative and candid. Outstanding! The next issue of the California Numismatist will almost certainly have coverage of the event, (I saw Greg Burns with his camera everywhere). An excellent event and free to the public!

I spoke to club officers of a couple of other clubs and it appears that club membership is generally down so the attendance at our last club meeting was a good sign that we are still healthy and active. If you know of anyone interested in attending bring them with you and perhaps we'll get a new member.

As always the club is appreciative of all volunteer efforts and any help is gratefully accepted!

March 2010
It is my sad duty to report that Board Member and club founder Bill Grant passed away on 11 February just before the February meeting. I have a copy of the Obituary Notice that was printed in the San Bernardino Sun and it will be available at the next meeting. I failed to make a note of who brought the notice to the meeting but you have my thanks for providing it. Keep Freddie and family in your thoughts and prayers.

February 2010
The Board is currently working on updating our Operations Manual. This will consist of updating Officer and appointed positions to bring our written structure more in line with the current size of the club.

January 2010
The Christmas Luncheon was then enjoyed by 25 people and the staff at MiMi's was outstanding in both the service and food. Thank You!

Congratulations, to all the new Officers and Board Members! You are the people that make the club work!

An awards ceremony was held to present the following 2009 awards for exceptional club service:
2 Presidential Awards were awarded. The first was to D.W. for her service as club secretary . Outstanding and Thank You! The second Award was announced for B.G. but will be presented when an appropriate congratulatory venue is presented. Congratulations B!

This years Trumpower award was fortunate enough to be presented by last years recipient Mary Morrow and was presented to D.W. for her long and dedicated service to the club. She was presented an individual award and her name was added to the Trumpower plaque displayed at all club meetings. Congratulations D!

Since this month was our Luncheon, we didn't have a Show and Tell.

December 2009
B. and P. B. have decided to take on the job of refreshement providers for the club. They provided the November sandwiches and soda's and they were excellent. Be sure to thank them for all they do especially in light of B. taking on the Presidents job!

November 2009
B. and P. B. have graciously volunteered to provide refreshments for our November meeting. They always do a wonderful job and please be sure to Thank Them!

The refreshments for October were provided by J. and C. P. I love Ding-Dongs even I have to buy them for myself!

October 2009
J.P. attended the NASC meeting and provided a synopsis of same.

It was noted that the NASC Yap stone that was a donation to the club was valued at the ANA convention at $10,000! Nice benefactor!

The President announced that we had 2 winners at the NASC Yellow ticket Gold drawing. B.P. was presented with a 1/10th ounce Gold Eagle and J.M. won a 2-Peso Mexico Gold coin. In addition it was reported that we sold a total of 60 (4-pack) tickets and made $90.00 for the club. Also in the new issue of "The California Numismatist" was a listing that showed that the club was 5th in ticket sales out of 17 member clubs. Outstanding!

During this meeting we held our annual ice cream social. We had approximately 17 members (and 1 dog) that indulged in ice cream and socializing. A good time was had by all! (Before you get excited, the dog did not have ice cream. They are lactose intolerant.) Our thanks go out to D.W. and P.P.'s for doing all the legwork and providing an excellent social! Thank You!

The club received the new edition of "The California Numismatist", the combined newsletter of the Numismatic Association of California and the "California State Numismatic Association". The newsletter is published quarterly.

The club received a copy of the latest Covina Coin Club Newsletter. I will have it at the Oct. meeting.

Septermber 2009
Last month we had our normal club meeting. Even in the summer heat we had 16 attendees. Jim gave a lecture on the LA Federal Reserve Bank tour that he attended as part of the ANA convention plus an overview of the convention itself as the monthly topic.

We sold or gave away as door prizes a total of 60 4-ticket blocks of the Yellow NASC gold coin raffle tickets. This was an excellent fundraiser for both the NASC and our own club. I attended the NASC meeting on 23 August (more info later) and then stuck around for the raffle. I am pleased to report that we had 2 winners in the raffle. I have notified both winners and will present them their coins at the Sept. meeting.

I would like to thank M. and A. for providing last months refreshments. The cookies were excellent. Thank You!!
